NSFAS Applicant Guidelines
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) includes rules that applicants must fulfill in order to receive financial aid. The following are the guidelines:
Rule 1: Applicants must ensure that they meet all of the application requirements to avoid being rejected.
Rule 2: Before filling out the NSFA application form, applicants must seek guidance if they have no idea what they are doing.
Rule 3: Applicants must adhere to all rules governing the application process.
Rule 4: All required papers must be submitted by the applicant.
What exactly is covered by the bursary?
Accommodation, living allowance, transportation, and learning materials amounts must all be in accordance with the most recent DHET criteria.
TVET
- Accommodation in an urban area R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in an peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in an rural area R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from institution) R7,350 per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

- Go to https://www.nsfas.org.za and look for the tab NYNSFAS and click.
- Create a an account called mynfas
- Click on apply tab
- Upload all the needed documents
