In 1998, the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) transformed the 15 existing colleges at the time into six mega Further Education and Training (FET) Colleges as part of its transformation policy for technical colleges in the Western Cape. Further Education and Training colleges have since been renamed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges, under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Three of these colleges are based in the Cape Metropole and three are rural.

DOCUMENTS (CERTIFIED COPIES) NEEDED FOR APPLYING TO TVET COLLEGE

1. A copy of the first page of your Identity Document must accompany this application.

2. A copy of your Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate or highest qualification must be submitted with your application.

3. NB. Grade 12 learners must attach a copy of their Grade 11 final results and June or September Grade 12 results.
The report must indicate the subjects and symbols obtained and whether the subjects are on the Higher Grade or Standard Grade. If you attended any other higher education institution, an original academic record or certified copies of other certificates obtained previously, must also be submitted.

4. Proof of residential address of parents/guardians.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (non-South African citizens)

1. A certified copy of your passport must accompany this form. You are required to produce a valid study permit before you will be permitted to register.

2.Non-RSA Qualifications. The onus rests with all international applicants to have their school qualifications evaluated by SAQA before submitting this application form. SAQA can be contacted on telephone number: 027 86 010 3188.

Boland TVET College Admission Requirements.

Requirements for NC(V) Courses;

The students are permitted to study for a maximum of four years for NC (V) Levels 2, 3, and 4 taking into account possible subject failures.

  • Minimum entrance requirements are NQF1 i.e. Grade 9 and AET Level 4
  • Entry requirements have been guided and aligned to the NC (V) policy. A point system for entry into qualifications will be utilized.

Requirements for Report 191 Courses;

  • Minimum entrance requirements as aligned by the NATED Policy. Students who have passed to Grade 12/NC (V) Level 4 will be admitted to N4.
  • Students who have passed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 who want to pursue an artisan career will be admitted to N1 based on a point system
