How to apply University of Cape Town
About University of Cape Town
UCT began as the South African College, a boys’ high school, in 1829.
The College originated as a tiny tertiary-education school that grew rapidly around 1880, when gold and diamond discoveries in the north – and the subsequent demand for mining skills – provided the financial drive for expansion. Between 1880 and 1900, the College grew into a full-fledged university thanks to growing sponsorship from both private and government sources.
