My nsfas number

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a government bursary that is available to underprivileged South African students who are looking to study at a public university or TVET College. They provide funding for registration, tuition and allowances, these allowances cover transport, living expenses and learning materials.

When applying to NSFAS they need students to upload supporting documents in order to approve them for funding and the bursary will often withhold any allowances unless all the necessary documents have been submitted and approved.

Here’s how to change your number on your myNSFAS account.

To change your number, you need to:

Log into your myNSFAS account
Update your contact details
Go to NSFAS Connect
Create a case
Submit a picture of your ID using a cell phone
Provide your old and new numbers in the description section
Indicate that you need to change your number to access your NSFAS Wallet account

If you are unable to access your myNSFAS account to submit this request, you may send a request to NSFAS via the NSFAS social media inbox (DM) or email.

How To Upload Documents

Go to my.nsfas.org.za and log in using your details.
Click on the option to ‘upload outstanding supporting documents’
Then lick on the tab ‘Submit Documents’

Once you have done this then you will receive a notification saying that ‘Outstanding application documents submitted successfully uploaded’.

If you did upload the documents but there was a problem the most common issue is that the documents are not clear. If you have a problem taking photos with your cellphone you can go to an NSFAS or an NYDA office and they will assist you. If there is not an NSFAS or NYDA office near you, and you have applied to a college or varsity then ask their fees office to assist you.

Login on the myNSFAS portal here
Enter your username and password and sign in
Click on Track Funding Progress

How to re-register your myNSFAS account 2023-2034

To access your funding progress through your NSFAS login account, you are required to register or re-register a myNSFAS account.

Navigate to www.nsfas.org.za login.
Click myNSFAS tab.
Click register.
Tick the box to allow NSFAS to verify your details.
Then capture the ID number as stated on your ID document.
Type in your full names and surname as per your ID number.
Type in your current email address.
Confirm your email address.
Type in your cellphone number.
Create a password.
Confirm password.
Upload ID Copy.
Click register.
You will be sent an OTP to the email and cell number provided (this OTP expires after 24 hours).
Type in the OTP and click Submit.
You have now completed your NSFAS account re-registration.
