NSFAS is a government entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training established according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to provide financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public universities or TVET colleges.

If you’ve forgotten your email address or cellphone number that you used to register to NSFAS and you are being asked for a One Time Pin (OTP), here’s what you can do to solve that problem.

  • Go to and click on myNSFAS account
  • Enter your username and password
  • Click on the My personal details tab
  • Enter your current cell phone number and email address
  • Click Update your details
  • A Time Pin (OTP) will be sent to the new cell phone number and email address that you have provided
  • Enter the OTP and click submit
  • Your details will immediately be updated

  • Log into your myNSFAS account portal.
  • Enter your ID or username and password.
  • Click the SIGN IN! button.
  • Once you log into your account dashboard, click on Track Funding Progress to check your application status.
  • If your application has been successful, Congrats! If not, better luck next time

How to Reset Your MyNsfas Account Password

Do you already have a MyNsfas account but have forgotten your password?
You may simply reset your Nsfas login password by visiting:

1. Select “forgot your password” from the drop-down menu and input your ID number.
2. Select whether or not you’ve forgotten your username and password, then click “Submit.”
3. An OTP will be sent to you via email and SMS.
4. Enter the OTP that was sent to you and click “Submit.”
5. After that, you’ll be prompted to create a new password.
