Is your NSFAS wallet locked? It’s now even easier to unlock it and all you’ll need is a cellphone and this can be done anytime of the day.NSFAS has introduced a new and easy way to unlock your NSFAS Wallet. You can now unlock your NSFAS Wallet account by simply using your cell phone. You will need an existing myNSFAS portal account along with a NSFAS wallet account.
Make sure your current cellphone number is saved in the myNSFAS portal and is linked to the phone you’ll use to unlock your NSFAS wallet.
- Dial *120*176#
- Choose the option which reads ‘Unlock with OTP’
- You will now be sent a One Time PIn (OTP) through SMS.
- Type in the OTP given.
- Click enter.
- You will then receive another notification which will tell you that your account is unlocked.
To unlock your myNSFAS wallet, you need to:
- Log into your myNSFAS account
- Go to NSFAS Connect
- Create a case
- Submit a picture of your ID using a cell phone
- Provid your current cell number
- Indicate that your NSFAS Wallet is blocked
If you are unable to access your myNSFAS account to submit this request, you may send a request to NSFAS via their social media inbox (DM) or email.
Needed documents you need to unlock mynsfas wallet
Send NSFAS an email to unblock@nsfas.org.za for assistance. Make sure to provide the following in your email:
- A clear copy of your ID (if you have a Smart Card ID, send a copy of both sides)
- Your ID number in the email
- Cellphone number and email address
- Full names and surname
- Physical and/or postal address
- name of your TVET college
- A full description of your query.
How to reset your forgotten password
- Step 1: Go to my.nsfas.org.za
- Step 2: Click “forgot your password” below
- Step 3: Enter ID and press verify
- Step 4: Indicate whether you have access to your email address /mobile number or not.
- Step 5: On the next page Enter your ID number and press Submit (If you get UserProfile doesn’t exist, You need to re-register)
- Step 4: Select ” I can’t remember my password ” on the dropdown and hit submit
- Step 5: Check your email and message app for further instructions.
- NB: Password should be a unique password, don’t repeat the old password. or Enter New@2028 as a password – Your account will be unlocked immediately.
How to re-register your myNSFAS account
To access your funding progress through your NSFAS login account, you are required to register or re-register a myNSFAS account.
- Navigate to www.nsfas.org.za login.
- Click myNSFAS tab.
- Click register.
- Tick the box to allow NSFAS to verify your details.
- Then capture the ID number as stated on your ID document.
- Type in your full names and surname as per your ID number.
- Type in your current email address.
- Confirm your email address.
- Type in your cellphone number.
- Create a password.
- Confirm password.
- Upload ID Copy.
- Click register.
- You will be sent an OTP to the email and cell number provided (this OTP expires after 24 hours).
- Type in the OTP and click Submit.
- You have now completed your NSFAS account re-registration.
