NSFAS is a government entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training established according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to provide financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public universities or TVET colleges
Applicants must fill out nsfas form for each application and it is available here. You must read the documents listed below since they will assist you in your application process.
Eligibility to Fill Out the NSFAS Form
Applicants are only eligible for form if they meet the following criteria:
- Citizen of South Africa
- Obtain an SASSA grant.
- The total annual household income is less than R350 000.
- Applying to a TVET College or a public university to study
- Already enrolled as a university student with an annual household income of less than R122 000?
- To be eligible for funding to attend TVET College, you must have completed grades 9 and 10.
- Passed Matriculation in order to be eligible for university funding.
- Registering for the first time at a public university for an undergraduate degree or a National Certificate Vocational/Report 191 program at a public TVET College.
How to Fill Out NSFAS Form
The NSFAS website has a lot of information (if you wish to apply online, follow the instructions below)
1) Go to https://my.nsfas.org.za/mynsfas to create your myNSFAS account.
When creating an account, you will be asked to submit the following information: Username, password, ID number, phone number, and email address are all required fields.
2) After that, you can log in with your chosen username and password.
3) Click the “apply” button to complete the application form.
4) After you have filled in all the required information (do not leave any fields blank), you can upload electronic copies of your supporting documents (as listed below). Once all your documents have been uploaded, click the “submit” button to receive your reference number
