The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is in charge of allocating funds to students who meet certain criteria. Only accepted students will sign a formal agreement with NSFAS, which is referred to as the NSFAS bursary agreement. What does the bursary cover?
Amounts indicated of accommodation, living allowance, transport and learning materials need to be aligned with the approved latest DHET guidelines.
TVET
- Accommodation in an urban area R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in an peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in an rural area R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from institution) R7,350 per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

How to Complete and Sign Your NSFAS Bursary Contract (NBA)
When you register;
1.An email will be sent to you with a link to sign up online.
2.To access the online portal, please click the link.
3.You will receive a One Time Pin (OTP) through SMS to your registered cell phone number after entering your ID number.
4.To continue with the agreement signing, please put in the received OTP.
5.Register for the NBA on the internet.
When you’re done, you notification that the Terms and Conditions have been submitted.
