NSFAS established the Digital Learning Device Project, which provides laptops to NSFAS-funded students through its bursary program. Students who have not yet received laptops from their schools should contact NSFAS to place an order.

NSFAS encourages students who have not yet received their laptops from their schools to place an online order with them.

Who qualifies for nsfas online laptop application?

  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualifies for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • Person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

Students will need the following document to apply:

  • South African ID number
  • Student number
  • Contact details
  • Name of the institution registered at
  • Home address

 How to place an order for nsfas online laptop

  1. Click here to visit the NSFAS website.
  2. Select “myNSFAS” on the top right of the screen.
  3. Tap on “Click to order your NSFAS Laptop Online”.
  4. Fill in your ID number and all the other information required.

Once you have completed all of the needed checks and submitted your online order, you will be contacted to pick up your laptop at your registered institution.

How To Collect Your Laptop

After the verification process is completed, our service providers will place an order for your laptop and dispatch it for delivery. The laptop service provider or your university will contact you to arrange collection/delivery once your laptop is ready.

Remember that no one can receive or collect the laptop on your behalf once you’ve been called for delivery or pickup; you must be there and sign before it’s given to you.

Laptop payment

Non-NSFAS funded students who require a device should consult their institutions as they will remain responsible for the payment of the device and must therefore agree to the payment terms as defined by the institution.

As a NSFAS funded student, you should upon delivery of the digital learning device, produce a valid ID, proof of registration (or student card) as well as sign the acknowledgement receipt of the digital learning device. You will also be required to agree to the terms and conditions of the device as set out by your institution.
