TVET Colleges focus on vocational and occupational education and training with aim of preparing students to become functional workers in a skilled trade.
WHO CAN ATTEND TVET COLLEGE

As part of the Higher Education system, TVET Colleges accept students who’ve completed Grade 9, 10, 11 or 12 at the high school level. University post-graduates can also enrol for courses at TVET Colleges for more practical exposure.

A big benefit of attending a TVET college is the high focus on the employability of students where part of the curriculum requires the students to complete experiential training (internships and apprenticeships) which helps build up experience on your CV.

Not all colleges offer the same courses. It’s a good idea to first do some research on courses offered by colleges which interest you.  Courses are usually in the fields of; hospitality, foodservice and tourism industries, haircare, early childhood development, management (financial, human resource, marketing, administration) to mention a few.

Ekurhuleni East TVET College is a Technical Vocational Education and Training provider in the Metropolitan Municipality of Ekurhuleni of South Africa’s Gauteng Province. The College was established as a result of the merging of some previous Colleges within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. The College focuses to be an institution that equips people with appropriate knowledge and skills as well as create a high-quality environment in order to prepare them for the labour market and self-employment. Ekurhuleni East TVET College comprises of five campuses and a centre of specialisation which are situated in five towns in the Municipality.

Financial assistance in form of bursaries is provided by the Department of Higher Education and Training to students who can prove academic excellence but in need of financial assistance. The bursaries are available to all students in need of financial assistance both prospective students and continuing students. Sedibeng TVET College

Sedibeng TVET College is a Technical Vocational Education and Training institution in the Gauteng Province of South Africa. Lekoa (now Sebokeng), Vereeniging, and Vanderbijlpark Technical Colleges merged in 2002 to form the Sedibeng TVET College. Sedibeng TVET College is ranked among the best performing public colleges in the Gauteng Province and has been consistent over the years. Tshwane South TVET College is a Technical Vocational Education and Training institution in the Gauteng Province of South Africa. In 2001, three previous Technical Colleges(Atteridgeville, Centurion and Pretoria West) which are now campuses merged together to form Tshwane South TVET College. The College focuses to be a world-class institution as well as empowering students or learners through high-quality vocational education and training. TSC comprises four campuses, the fourth campus was acquired as a result of the relocation of the Provincial borders.
