THE LIST OF TVET COLLEGES IN GAUTENG

1. Central Johannesburg TVET College (CJC)

Central Johannesburg TVET College (CJC) was established on 11th September 2003 when the late Minister, Prof. Kadar Asmal, launched the landscape for the then Further Education and Training (FET) sector at our Alexandra campus. The name FET was later changed to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by the current Minister, Dr Blade Nzimande.

The College is one of 50 public TVET colleges in South Africa operating under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). There are eight TVET colleges in Gauteng.

OPENING AND CLOSING DATE

Central Johannesburg TVET College has opened its online applications for 2023. Applications for new students close on 26 November while applications for returning students close on 30 December.

No late applications will be considered.

2. Ekurhuleni East TVET College

The Ekurhuleni East TVET College is one of the 50 TVET Colleges in South Africa, the College is situated in the eastern region of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. Ekurhuleni is a Tsonga word meaning ‘place of peace’ thus the College is named after this beautiful name. The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) covers an extensive area of about 1 975 Km2. The EMM comprises nine towns which Alberton, Benoni, Boksburg, Brakpan, Edenvale, Germiston, Kempton Park, Nigel and Springs. Included in these towns are 17 townships (EMM IDP) 2015-16) Geographically, Ekurhuleni is uniquely situated. It borders the eastern part of Johannesburg and the southern part of Tshwane. The Metro is spread over 15.6% of Gauteng’s landmass. It is the fourth largest municipality of all metropolitan areas that currently exist in South Africa. Ekurhuleni has three large towns: Kempton Park, Benoni and Springs.

3. Sedibeng TVET College

Sedibeng TVET College is among the eight colleges situated in Gauteng Province. The college is situated in the South of Johannesburg in the Sedibeng District Municipality hence the Sedibeng which is a Sotho name meaning the ‘well’.

4. South West Gauteng Tvet College

South West Gauteng College is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), formerly, FET college, operating under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in terms of the Continuing Education and Training Act, Act No.16 of 2006, as amended. The College is accredited by Umalusi and several Sector Education and Training Authorities (Seta’s) to offer education and training, mostly in the FET band (NQF Level 2 to 4). Some programmes are offered in the Higher Education band i.e. the N4 to N6 levels. At over 30 000 enrollments, the college is one of the biggest colleges in the country

With its head office located at Molapo Campus, Soweto and campuses spread through Soweto (3) to Roodepoort (2) and Randburg (1), Including the “LAND IS WEALTH FARM” in Sterkfontein, the College is a real citadel of education and training for communities in its wide catchment area and beyond.

5. Tshwane North TVET College

Tshwane North Technical and Vocational Education and Training College (TNC) is situated in the Greater Tshwane Metropolis of Gauteng. It consists of a corporate (Central) Office situated in the inner city of Pretoria and 6 Campuses: Mamelodi; Pretoria; Rosslyn; Soshanguve North; Soshanguve South and Temba. TNC five (5) campuses are with 25 KMs away from the central office, Temba Campus being the furthest at 41 KMs away.

The College has a closed hostel at Soshanguve South Campus which could accommodate 300 students. However, due to insufficient funds, necessary renovations are still to be completed for it to be reopened to house needy students. The College has about 327Lecturers and ??? support staff with a student population of between 20 000 and 21 000.
