Vhembe TVET College Application 2023-2024

Vhembe TVET College was established in 1963 under the name Bantu State School. In 1967 the school was then named Bantu Trade School due to its diversity.

In 1985 the school was renamed Finyazwanda College until 1992 when it was renamed Technical College of Venda (Techniven) until 2003. In 2003 we became known as Vhembe FET College until 2014.

Today the college has six campuses; Makwarela Campus, Tshisimani Campus, Mashamba Campus, Mavhoi Campus, Thengwe Campus, Shingwedzi Campus and Makhado Satellite Campus and is known as Vhembe TVET College.

Vhembe TVET College is located in the Vhembe District Municipality, which is in the far north of the Limpopo Province.   The District is comprised of four municipalities, namely, Thulamela, Makhado,  Lim 345 (Collins Chabane Municipality) and Musina, with the seat located in Thohoyandou.  It covers 21, 000km2 or 18% of the province. The college has six campuses, namely, Makwarela, Mashamba, Mavhoi, Tshisimani, Thengwe and recently launched Shingwedzi.   The Central Office of Vhembe TVET College has situated in Sibasa about 3km from Makwarela Campus, about 49km from Mavhoi, 77km from Mashamba and 31km from Tshisimani Campus, 29 km from Thengwe Campus which is situated at Mutale area and is specialising in learnerships and short skills courses and also offers NCV and Report 191 Business studies programmes.  The college and the DHET launched the established Shingwedzi Campus at Malamulele area to open in 2017 which is 42km from Central Office and a satellite at Musina.

Vhembe TVET College Admission Requirements.

Requirements for NC(V) Courses;

The students are permitted to study for a maximum of four years for NC (V) Levels 2, 3, and 4 taking into account possible subject failures.

  • Minimum entrance requirements are NQF1 i.e. Grade 9 and AET Level 4
  • Entry requirements have been guided and aligned to the NC (V) policy. A point system for entry into qualifications will be utilized.

Requirements for Report 191 Courses;

  • Minimum entrance requirements as aligned by the NATED Policy. Students who have passed to Grade 12/NC (V) Level 4 will be admitted to N4.
  • Students who have passed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 who want to pursue an artisan career will be admitted to N1 based on a point system

Requirements for Occupational Courses;

  • Minimum entrance requirements as per registered Skills Programme/Learnership approved by QCTO/SETA
  • To be eligible to apply for an Occupational Programme a student who previously enrolled for NC(V) or Report 191 programmes will only be considered if such a student has fully completed the NC(V) or Report 191 programme (passed all subjects).

Additional Entry Requirements

  • The College Council has determined additional entry requirements by means of a point system for NC(V) level 2, Report 191 N1 and Report 191 N4 in an effort to improve the quality and performance of specialized programmes.
